COME AND SEE
A Journey of Faith
Do you want to know more about Jesus Christ? Would you like to grow in your faith? Are you a non-Catholic who is interested in the Catholic faith? If the answer to these questions is "yes" then our parish "Come and See" programme is for you!
Our meetings follow the programme of the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) which is a process by which adults who are not Catholics are welcomed into the Christian family of the Catholic Church. Becoming a Catholic is not just a matter of learning and accepting a number of beliefs, it is a process of growth or conversion and involves personal growth as well as growing into a particular Catholic community or parish. The programme provides an opportunity to learn without commitment. It is designed for people enquiring about the Catholic faith as well as for Catholics who wish to deepen their understanding and commitment to the faith.
The RCIA process usually runs from autumn to Easter, the highlight of the Christian year and the traditional time for initiating new Christians. After Easter there is normall a number of follow up meetings to continue our reflections on the faith.
After attending the RCIA course, adults who wish to be received into the Catholic Church are welcomed into the Church at the Easter Vigil and will become full members of our parish community.
Anyone wanting to find out more about becoming a Catholic is welcome to join us on a Thursday evening during term-time at St John Vianney Church at 7.45pm. After a cup of tea, coffee (or something stronger), we begin with a short talk following which we split into smaller groups and share with each other any thoughts and feelings we might have about the talk and how the subject of the talk relates to our lives. We conclude the evening with a prayer. For more information please e-mail Fr. Jonathan at email@example.com
