The church was beautifully adorned for the occasion with the magnificent flowers and displays. The liturgy was so beautifully prepared and celebrated with the great help of our choir, wonderful children and the expertise of our MC and altar serving team. I write these words early on Saturday morning following the parish celebration for my silver jubilee. I want to thank you all for making this a happy and memorable occasion. It has been so good to have been able to share this with you. I thank God for the opportunity he gives to me of serving as your parish priest. May God bless you all and your families. Fr. Jonathan 27th May - 2nd June 2017 - PILGRIMAGE TO LOURDES ORDINATION OF FR. TOMAS ZUNA - July 16th 2016
Fr. Tomas Zuna was ordained to the priesthood in the Metropolitain Cathedral of St. Chad, Birmingham by the Most Reverend Bernard Longley, Archbishop of Birmingham. A good number of St. John Vianney parishioners attended the Mass and witnessed Tomas being ordained a priest alongside Fr. Chris Yule and Fr. Simon Baker. The Mass of Ordination was a moving prayer to God which has now provided the Church of Birmingham with three new priests. For many of our parishioners it was the first time they had witnessed an ordination which was made extra special by coming to know Tomas well over these last few years and watching him prepare for ordination. MASS ON THE MOUNT 2015 - September 19th 2015
What a day! Hardest climb! Well done to all who took part today! Fabulous Mass again. A lovely day spent on Snowdon yesterday for our 3rd Mass on the Mount. Great to see the young and the not so young conquering fears and achieving what they set out to do. A long and tiring day but worth every minute to witness the most beautiful Mass. Thank you one and all for all your efforts yesterday and for your continued support for the Andrew Robinson Young People's Trust. www.justgiving.com/ARYPTMOTM2015/ RETIREMENT MASS & PARISH B-B-Q - Sunday 12th July 2014
We celebrated the work of Mrs Jackson and her service to Catholic Education & Mrs Teahan our Pre-school Manager, we marked their retirements with a special Mass followed by a BBQ. They have both committed so much to the children and families of St John Vianney and after many years of working with our children have decided to retire - we wish them both happiness in their retirement but shall miss them both very much. It was a fantastic day giving everyone in the parish an opportunity to come together and have some fun. ST JOHN VIANNEY SCHOOL 50TH ANNIVERSARY: 2014 The weekend of 15th - 17th May marked our special celebrations in thanksgiving for the 50th anniversary of St. John Vianney School. We had a fantastic evening at the Standard Club dancing the night away to ABBA Deja Vous. To celebrate our Anniversary Father Jonathan said a special Mass of Thanksgiving for the school, this was followed by a family picnic/barbecue. It was a momentous occasion and was marked by the Lord Mayor joining us. Thank you to everyone involved in organising these events and to all the former pupils and family members and people of the parish who came to share in this special anniversary. PARISH VISITATION: The weekend 14-15th February was a great moment in the life of our parish and I know Mgr. Pat Browne enjoyed being with us and leading the Visitation. One comment made at the end of the weekend was, "This has been good for us. It has reminded us that our parish is important and that we have a mission to reach out to others." I could have put it better myself!
Thanks to everybody who was involved in the planning and preparation of the weekend and making this Visitation such a success. PARISH IRISH NIGHT: Thank you to everybody who supported the Parish Irish Night. Over £1600 was raised to support the Pre-School. It was good to see so many of our families coming together for this great event. A special word of thanks must go to Maggie Gallagher, the dancers of Celticia Academy and everybody who has organised the event. PARISH QUIZ NIGHT: Friday 6th February. |
